No alliance with AAP in future says Delhi Congress

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the agenda for the forthcoming assembly polls and to examine the input from monthly meetings at the block and district levels. The consensus was clear: “No alliance with AAP” for the upcoming elections.

According to reports on Wednesday, district Congress presidents and other top officials of the Delhi Congress expressed their opinion that the party should fight the forthcoming assembly elections independently and avoid forming any kind of partnership with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The head of the Delhi Congress, Devender Yadav, met with district presidents and observers on Wednesday, according to a statement.

Reflecting on Past Alliances: Learning from the Lok Sabha Elections

The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) fought the Lok Sabha elections in an alliance under the banner of INDIA bloc. However, the BJP swept all seven seats here.

“All the district presidents and observers of the national capital were present in the meeting. We have to face the elections in the next six to seven months. We have received several feedbacks and when asked about the alliance, all voiced that the party should contest the upcoming polls on its own,” sources said.

Furthermore, it was determined that the party need to concentrate on conducting block-level campaigns during the polls. In addition to harshly criticizing the BJP and AAP governments, they argued, block-level concerns have to be brought up throughout the campaign as well.

Yadav Reviews Block and District Committee Feedback

Yadav evaluated the comments from the 280 block and the 14 district Congress committee meetings that were held on July 2 and 5, holding the meeting with the presidents of 14 district Congress committees and 42 recently recruited district observers.

In order to map out the Delhi Congress’s future plans, Yadav called a meeting of the state Congress’ executive committee on July 15. The purpose of the gathering was to review the recommendations and observations made during the meeting.

“The common refrain at the meeting was that the party need to mount aggressive campaigns against the BJP and the AAP governments and expose their lies, falsehood, inaction and incompetence in tackling the major issues affecting the people like water shortage, power crisis, waterlogging, pollution and corruption at all levels. One of the suggestions received at the meeting was to hold protests to highlight local issues, which will make a big impact among the local people towards the Congress,” the statement said.

He further stated that in order to prevent the meetings from being biased, party workers at the local level will have the chance to voice their opinions and have their proposals considered at the block and district Congress committee meetings.

Yadav said that the party will take aggressive action to fortify and energize the numerous block and district Congress committees, as well as build a team of ten workers per booth to solidify the party’s position, given the way many of them were not operating in a satisfying manner.

Yadav began by outlining the necessity for the district and block Congress committees to step up their efforts by enlisting the help of all societal segments, especially the youth, since “we need to involve young people to progress to fulfil the vision of party’s senior leader Rahul Gandhi.”

According to him, each block president would put the Congress catchphrase, “Haath Badlega Ab Dilli Me Be Halath,” on fifty autorickshaws in their local communities.
