Heart attack killed Mukhtar Ansari, not soft poisoning: Report

Ansari was incarcerated at the Banda prison, where he passed away in March of this year.

The post-mortem report’s conclusions were confirmed by the District Magistrate (DM) of Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, who stated that Mukhtar Ansari, a former gangster turned politician, passed away from a heart attack.

In the age of sixty-three, Ansari passed away in March of this year in a Banda hospital due to a heart attack. He was an MLA from Mau Sadar five times, and from 2005 to the present he was incarcerated in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. There were more than sixty active criminal cases against him.

Ansari was incarcerated at the Banda prison, where he passed away in March of this year, after being found guilty in eight charges between September 2022 by various Uttar Pradesh courts. The relatives of the former mobster turned politician claimed that the reason for his death was “slow poisoning” when he was being held in Banda’s District Jail.

Umar Ansari, the son of Mukhtar Ansari, said that his father suffered from “slow poisoning” while incarcerated and called for a magistrate’s investigation into the death as well as a post-mortem to be performed by AIIMS specialists in Delhi.

What Mukhtar Ansari’s son said

According to Umar Ansari, who was speaking to the media, his father died as a result of consuming poisonous food. The District Magistrate of Banda ordered an investigation following the allegation, and the results verified that Ansari passed away from a heart attack while incarcerated. The report of the DM has been forwarded to the secretariat of Uttar Pradesh for appropriate measures.

Sources claim that during the investigation, samples of chickpeas, jaggery, and salt that were discovered in Mukhtar Ansari’s barrack were sent for forensic analysis, however, the results did not show the presence of any toxic substances.

Rejecting accusations of “slow poisoning” were statements made by security guards stationed in Mukhtar Ansari’s barracks, jail physicians, Banda Medical College doctors who treated him, and a panel of doctors who performed his post-mortem. All of these statements were recorded throughout the investigation.
