The announcement was made at a ceremony held in Milan on June 25, where chefs from around the globe were recognised for their pizza-making excellence. The ranking was decided by a voting panel of 512 experts from 60 countries.
Chef Susy from Gurugram ranks 71st
Chef Susanna Di Cosimo, better known as Susy, has been ranked 71st on this year’s list. Originally from Naples, she moved to India and started Da Susy in Gurugram in 2021.
Her pizzas are known for blending traditional Neapolitan methods with creative flair. Today, Da Susy has two locations in Gurugram and continues to attract a loyal customer base.
Delhi’s Leo’s makes it to the top 100
Chef Amol Kumar, who runs Leo’s Pizzeria, has secured the 99th spot in the global list. Since opening its doors in 2016, Leo’s has become a top choice in Delhi for lovers of artisanal pizza.
Chef Amol is known for his dedication to the process. The dough at Leo’s is carefully made, fermented, and hand-kneaded before being baked in a wood-fired oven, a method that brings out rich flavour and texture.
Top chefs from Italy dominate the list
At the top of the 2025 rankings is Chef Francesco Martucci, who runs I Masanielli di Francesco Martucci in Caserta, Italy. The second spot went to Chef Franco Pepe of Pepe in Grani in Caiazzo, followed by Chef Gabriele Bonci of Pizzarium in Rome.
Italy dominated the top 10, with chefs from the country claiming most of the highest rankings. The only exceptions were two entries from Japan and one from Spain.

The Best Pizza Awards are part of a larger culinary platform called “The Best Chef Awards.” According to the organisers, the goal is “to break down barriers in the pizza world and spotlight authentic craftsmanship, bold innovation, and diverse voices that are shaping the future of this iconic dish.”
The awards were first introduced in 2022, and the ranking team ensures that they operate independently and without commercial influence.
