A horrific incident happened in Madhya Pradesh that has raised big questions about public safety and hospital security. On June 27, at the government district hospital in Narsinghpur, a 19-year-old girl named Sandhya Chaudhary, who was a Class 12 student, was brutally killed in front of everyone by a man who was obsessed with her. Sadly, no one tried to stop him.

A video that came out on Monday shows the attacker, Abhishek Koshti, cutting Sandhya’s throat while people, including hospital staff,  just watched. Some people even walked past her as she lay bleeding on the hospital floor.
The hospital, a place meant for saving lives, turned into a crime scene. In the video, Abhishek is seen slapping Sandhya, throwing her down, sitting on her chest, and then killing her with a knife. This happened in the emergency area, very close to doctors and security guards. The attack went on for about 10 minutes.

After that, Abhishek tried to kill himself by cutting his own throat but failed. He then ran outside, started his bike, and escaped. At the time of the murder, two security guards were standing outside the trauma centre. Inside, there were many hospital staff members, including a doctor, nurses, and ward boys. No one tried to stop the attacker.
This security failure made patients and their families very scared. Out of 11 patients in the trauma ward, eight left the hospital the same day, and the rest left the next morning.

Sandhya left her home around 2 pm that day. She told her family she was going to see a friend’s sister-in-law in the maternity ward. Abhishek Koshti had been waiting around the hospital since noon, likely waiting for her. The two talked for a short time outside room number 22 before he attacked her. The attack was quick, and Sandhya died on the spot because of heavy bleeding. The girl’s family was informed around 3:30 pm. When they reached the hospital, her body was still at the scene.

Angry, the family blocked the road outside the hospital. The protest calmed down around 10:30 pm but started again until 2 am when officials promised strict action against those responsible.
