UP government tells employees: Declare assets or face pay reduction

Employees won't receive their paychecks for this month if they don't report their moveable and immovable assets by August 31.

In August, almost 13 lakh government employees in Uttar Pradesh will get a pay reduction since they have not yet declare assets by submitting their property data through the Manav Sampada site. A last warning to its staff to register their assets by August 31 or risk harsh penalties has been given by the Yogi Adityanath-led government of Uttar Pradesh.

Employees won’t receive their paychecks for this month if they don’t report their moveable and immovable assets on the Manav Sampada government site by August 31. According to the ruling, promotions will also be impacted by noncompliance. The decree originally had a deadline of December 31. Despite several extensions, just 26% of respondents followed through. As of right moment, August 31 is the new deadline. More than 13 lakh of the state’s 17,88,429 government workers have not yet disclosed their assets.

Manoj Kumar Singh, the chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh, has reportedly pressed on strict adherence to the directive, stating that only individuals who turn in their asset data by the extended deadline would receive their pay. The rule applies to all categories of officers and employees and officials said that those who do not declare their assets might also become ineligible for promotions.

A notice issued by the UP government states, “All officers and employees are informed that it is mandatory to register the details of immovable and movable assets for the financial year 2023-2024 on the departmental evaluation portal (Manav Sampada) by August 31, 2024. Failure to do so will result in being marked as absent, and they will not receive their monthly salary. This will take effect from the salary for August 2024 onwards until the registration process is completed.”

“Employees who have not registered on the portal for the financial year 2023 by August 31, 2024, despite repeated instructions, will be considered absent from duty, and necessary action will be taken in accordance with departmental guidelines,” the notice added.

“This measure aims to enhance transparency and accountability within the government. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” NDTV reported quoting UP government minister Danish Azad Ansari.
