Beyoncé grants Kamala Harris permission to use ‘Freedom’ for presidential campaign

Beyoncé has reportedly allowed Kamala Harris, the vice-president turned presumptive presidential nominee, to use her song “Freedom” throughout her campaign.

According to reports from CNN, Harris’ team received permission from the representatives of Beyoncé to use “freedom” in her presidential campaign. This permission was only granted a few hours before Harris could join the campaign staff meeting. Even though Beyoncé has not directly campaigned for Harris, permitting her to use the song means that Harris has Beyoncé’s approval.

However, Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, is an outspoken supporter of Harris and the Democratic Party. Following Biden’s announcement on Sunday, Knowles expressed her enthusiasm on social media, writing, “New, Youthful, Sharp, Energy!” Putting personal ego, power, and fame aside. That is the definition of a great leader. Thank you, President Biden, for your service and your leadership. Go to Vice President Kamala Harris for President. Let’s Go.”

The day before, President Joe Biden announced he was withdrawing from the 2024 US presidential race and endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee. At the staff meeting, Harris stated, “We have 106 days until Election Day, and in that time, we have some hard work to do. Our campaign has always been about two different versions of what we see as the future of our country. One focuses on the future; the other focuses on the past. Donald Trump wants to take our country backwards… We believe in a brighter future that makes room for all Americans.”

According to the survey conducted by the Associated Press, Harris had already gathered endorsements that amounted to more than 1976, which is the number of delegates needed to win the nominations in the initial round slated for August 1st–August 7th.
