A 21-year-old man of Indian origin was arrested after getting into a fight with another passenger on a flight from Philadelphia to Miami. The incident happened on June 30 aboard a Frontier Airlines flight and was caught on camera by a fellow passenger.

The video, which is now viral, shows Ishaan Sharma, who lives in Newark, and another man named Keanu Evans grabbing each other’s necks while others on the flight shouted for them to stop.

Keanu Evans, who was sitting just one seat ahead of Sharma, told police that the attack came out of nowhere. He said Sharma grabbed his neck while returning to his seat and was acting strangely.

"He was doing some, like, dark laugh like, 'Ha ha ha ha ha.' And he was saying things like, 'You puny, mortal man, if you challenge me, it will result in your death," Evans told 7News.

After hearing this, Evans said he got up to use the restroom and reported Sharma’s behavior to the flight crew. The attendants told him to press the assistance button if the situation got worse.

Evans said that when he returned to his seat, Sharma continued to make threats, so he pressed the assistance button. That’s when things quickly got out of control.

"You know, he's looking at me very angrily and we're looking eye to eye, forehead to forehead, and then he just grabs me by the throat and just starts choking me," Evans said. "At that moment, it was, you know, fight or flight responses kick in. I'm in a tight, confined space on an aircraft, and all I can do is just defend myself."

The two ended up fighting as other passengers tried to stop them.

When the plane landed in Miami, Sharma was arrested by police and charged with battery, which means causing harm to another person.

He appeared in court on Tuesday. During the hearing, Sharma’s lawyer gave a different explanation for what happened. According to the lawyer, Sharma was meditating, and that somehow upset the other passenger.

"My client is from a religion where he was meditating. Unfortunately, the passenger behind him did not like that," the lawyer said, as quoted by a news outlet.

The case is now being looked at by the court to decide what really happened.
