Jio has announced that all its 5G users will now get free and unlimited access to Google Gemini, Google’s AI assistant. With this move, Jio aims to strengthen its digital ecosystem and offer advanced AI tools directly to its customers at no extra cost.

The announcement comes shortly after Airtel revealed its new partnership with Perplexity, an AI-powered search platform. With both telecom giants introducing AI-related services, the competition in India’s telecom and tech space is expected to intensify in the coming months.

Google says Gemini 3 is its most intelligent AI model so far, designed to understand complex questions, provide deeper answers, and handle long or detailed queries without users needing to write lengthy prompts. The model is capable of picking up small creative details, applying strong logical reasoning, and giving accurate results even with very short instructions.

Gemini 3 will soon be integrated into Google Search’s new AI Mode and will also be available through the Gemini app, Google AI Studio, Vertex AI, and Google’s new developer platform, Antigravity. Jio’s decision to offer free and unlimited access to Gemini 3 comes at a time when Indian telecom companies are racing to bring AI services to their customers.

Airtel recently announced a partnership with Perplexity AI, and Jio has responded with an even stronger offer. By giving free access to a premium AI model valued at ₹35,100, Jio aims to make its 5G plans more appealing, position itself as India’s leading AI-driven telecom company, and introduce millions of users to advanced generative AI tools. This move also strengthens the MyJio app ecosystem and supports wider adoption of Jio’s 5G services.

Jio announced the update on X with a message calling it the “biggest AI drop of the year,” stating that users can now unlock Google’s newest model with the Gemini Pro Plan, available for free for 18 months with Jio Unlimited 5G. With this plan, customers get full access to Gemini 3 and its advanced AI features across multiple apps, along with strong reasoning abilities, multimodal functions, developer tools, and a seamless experience across devices.

This partnership marks a major step forward for AI adoption in India. As telecom companies expand their AI offerings, these technologies are becoming a regular part of mobile services, similar to how OTT platforms and data packs became standard. With Jio giving millions of people access to powerful AI tools at no extra cost, India is set to witness one of the largest and fastest rollouts of next-generation AI technology, where the biggest winners will ultimately be the users.
