The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has offered a reward of $11,894 (or Rs 10 lakh) for information to help catch Anmol Bishnoi, who is the brother of well-known gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. This reward was announced on Friday, October 25. According to the news agency ANI, Anmol is wanted by the NIA for two cases filed in 2022, as he is linked to several criminal cases. Recently, Anmol’s name also came up in investigations in Mumbai, especially in cases involving political figures. He is also suspected in a shooting that took place outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s home earlier this year.
The NIA and other investigation teams think that capturing Anmol could give them important information about bigger criminal groups in India. They are asking the public to share any helpful information that could lead to his arrest.
Anmol linked to a Mumbai politician’s killing
In a related case, the Mumbai Crime Branch shared that, two days before the reward was announced, they found out that the suspected shooters in the killing of Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique had been in touch with Anmol. Investigations showed that the shooters communicated with Anmol using the messaging app Snapchat. Siddique was shot outside his office in Nirmal Nagar, Mumbai, and had chest injuries. He was taken to Lilavati Hospital, but he sadly passed away from his injuries on October 12.
The Crime Branch has arrested 10 people linked to Siddique’s case, including two shooters and a person who supplied weapons. Investigators think that Anmol helped these people and might also be involved in other similar crimes.
Anmol Bishnoi is believed to be involved in organised crime and important cases, making him a key target for law enforcement. As the NIA increases its efforts to find him, officials are asking people to share any information that could lead to his arrest and help stop larger criminal groups.
Who is Anmol Bishnoi?
Anmol Bishnoi, brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has a serious criminal background with at least 18 cases against him. He is accused of supplying weapons and support to the men who killed Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala on June 29, 2022, near Moosewala's village in Punjab’s Mansa district. Goldy Brar, another Lawrence Bishnoi gang member, claimed responsibility for Moosewala’s murder, stating it was revenge for the death of Youth Akali Dal leader Vicky Muddukhera. Anmol is also connected to a firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s home in Mumbai. According to the chargesheet, he motivated shooters Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal with a nine-minute speech before the attack, telling them they were on a historic mission.
He reportedly told the shooters, “Lord Ram ha blessed us. We will handle him (Salman Khan),” encouraging them to create history. The attack plan had been formed in August of the previous year and finalised before it happened in April. A Mumbai court issued a non-bailable warrant against him in July.
