An explosion happened in the Rohini area of New Delhi, damaging cars and buildings nearby. People living there were very shocked and scared. The blast took place near a CRPF school in Sector 14, but fortunately, no one was injured. The explosion was strong enough to break the windows of nearby shops and cars, and there was a bad smell in the area after the blast.
The police said they received a call about the explosion at 7:47 am, shortly after people in the area heard a loud noise around 7:30 am. Police officers and a forensics team arrived at the scene quickly and found that part of the school wall was damaged. They closed off the area right away to start their investigation.
Investigations show a crude bomb might have been used.
Delhi's lieutenant governor, Vinai Kumar Saxena, said that a detailed investigation is happening. Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guards (NSG), and Delhi Police went to the area to find out what caused the explosion. They are checking all possibilities, including whether it could be a terror attack attempt.
Officials at the scene said they found a white, powdery substance near the explosion area, including on the school wall and nearby places. The smell right after the blast was like ammonia and phosphate, which makes them think a crude bomb might have been used.
Experts await forensic results
Early reports suggest that aqueous ammonia, a chemical often used to control acid levels in food, may have been part of the explosion. While this chemical is safe when handled properly, it can cause serious skin burns, eye injuries, or breathing problems if used incorrectly. It can also react dangerously with some other chemicals.
After the investigation, officials are now waiting for forensic tests to find out exactly what caused the explosion. Meanwhile, they are still investigating to see if the substance found at the scene was involved in the blast.
