Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has recently received a chilling threat asking for Rs 5 crore, exacerbating the already high tensions regarding his long-running feud with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The threatening message, which came through WhatsApp to the control room of the Mumbai Traffic Police, said that if the amount was not paid, extreme consequences awaited. However, just days later, the sender apologized, claiming the threat had been sent by mistake.

 

What Was the threat about?

 

In the initial message, the individual claimed to be associated with the notorious Bishnoi gang. The sender demanded Rs 5 crore to mediate a peace deal between Salman Khan and Lawrence Bishnoi, warning that if the payment wasn’t made, the actor could face consequences even worse than those of politician Baba Siddique, who was killed by assailants earlier this month.

Again, the Mumbai Traffic Police soon received a follow-up message from the same number. The sender apologized, stating that the threatening message had been sent unintentionally. Despite this apology, law enforcement is taking the situation seriously. Authorities have traced the individual responsible to Jharkhand and have sent a team to apprehend them.

 

Why has Salman Khan been targeted?

 

This isn’t the first time the Bollywood star has found himself on the receiving end of threats linked to the Bishnoi gang. In April, two gunmen fired shots near his Bandra home, further escalating concerns about his safety.

The case goes back to an incident in 1998 when Salman Khan was accused of hunting and killing two blackbucks-totally an endangered species referred to as sacred animals by the Bishnoi community. Though the case is still pending in court, Lawrence Bishnoi has vowed many times to take revenge for his clan and declared that he would never pardon the actor.

Salman Khan has been placed under Y+ security, which includes armed guards accompanying him at all times. To further guard him, the Mumbai Police have resorted to installing heavy security outside his residence, Galaxy Apartments. This includes high-resolution, AI-powered CCTV cameras with facial recognition technology to keep a watch on Salman around the clock.

With tensions still simmering, the Bollywood star continues under tight security, with an investigation into the latest threat still on.
