Land dispute sparks massive fire in bihar’s nawada district: 21 houses set ablaze

Around 7 PM, a group of unidentified individuals reportedly stormed Manjhi Tola and began setting houses on fire. According to locals, chaos ensued as fires rapidly spread, consuming one home after another. Shots were allegedly fired into the air, further heightening the panic. The exact cause behind the violence remains under investigation, though authorities are pointing to an ongoing land dispute as the likely motive.

“We received a call at around 7:30 PM reporting that houses were being torched,” said Nawada Superintendent of Police, Abhinav Dhiman, who promptly arrived at the scene. “Fire engines and police personnel were immediately dispatched, but it took considerable time to bring the blaze under control.”

What Caused the Blaze?

While police are still piecing together the exact details, early investigations suggest that a land dispute was at the heart of the incident. These types of conflicts, unfortunately, are not uncommon in rural Bihar, where land ownership disputes can ignite longstanding tensions between families or groups. Authorities have registered a case, and the investigation continues.

“We are taking this matter very seriously,” SP Dhiman added. “A full inquiry is underway to identify the culprits and bring them to justice.”

Although no injuries were reported, the situation could have taken a more tragic turn. Witnesses have told police that shots were fired into the air as the attackers rampaged through the village, possibly to intimidate residents or prevent intervention.

With the fire now extinguished, a large contingent of police officers has been deployed to the area to prevent any further outbreaks of violence. “The situation is currently under control, but we are maintaining a strong presence to ensure peace,” Dhiman assured.

“This is not the first time we’ve had tensions over land here, but nothing like this has ever happened before,” said one local resident. Many in the village fear that without proper intervention, similar incidents could occur again.
