Indian playback singer Arijit Singh has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the most followed artist globally on Spotify, with over 151 million followers as of July 4, according to data from volt.fm.
With this achievement, Arijit has surpassed some of the world’s biggest music icons, including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, and The Weeknd.
The new ranking places Taylor Swift in second position with 139.6 million followers, followed by Ed Sheeran at third with 121 million. Sheeran recently collaborated with Arijit on the song Sapphire.
Meanwhile, Billie Eilish takes the fourth spot with 114 million followers, and The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) ranks fifth with 107.3 million.
Arijit Singh, known for hit songs like Tum Hi Ho, Kesariya, and Milne Hai Mujhse Aayi, has consistently been a top-performing artist on streaming platforms.
In 2024, he was the third most-streamed artist on Spotify, coming just behind Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. He also became the first Indian artist to cross 100 million followers on the platform.
Arijit’s latest tracks feature in Anurag Basu’s film Metro... In Dino, he has sung soulful songs such as Zamaana Lage, Aur Mohabbat Kitni Karoon, and Mausam.
