Two bombs exploded in Chandigarh's Sector 26 on Monday night. It hit two of the most popular clubs-Seville Bar and Lounge, owned by singer and rapper Badshah, and De Orra Club. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
What happened?
As per officials, CCTV footage showed a man throwing what seemed to be crude bombs at the clubs before fleeing from the spot. The blasts shattered window panes, causing panic but no casualties.
Efforts were made immediately and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and other officials were informed so that they could reach the site and view the situation.
Police are exploring several angles, but an extortion attempt seems the most likely at the moment. Investigators are also probing in connection with disputes among partners of this club as the main reason for the attack on them.
One of the affected venues is Seville Bar and Lounge, launched by Badshah in December last year. The 39-year-old rapper, who has lent voice to songs in Hindi, English, Punjabi, and Haryanvi, co-owns two more establishments too—Sago Spicy Symphony and Sidera. He has sung for Bollywood hits like Kapoor and Sons and Crew.
Police officials continue further investigations on motives and the identification of the suspect. As they continue to investigate, they are monitoring any leads that can deepen their understanding of these incidents' motives.
The safety aspect of the city has been raised as one of the issues after this incident in the most active nightlife city Chandigarh.
