The Delhi Police Special Cell, in coordination with central agencies and the Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), has arrested two suspected ISIS terrorists from different locations across India. The arrests are part of an ongoing crackdown on terrorist networks in the country.
The first accused, identified as Aftab, was arrested in Delhi. Aftab is a resident of Mumbai, and his arrest comes after coordinated raids at over 12 locations across multiple states. So far, more than eight suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the ongoing operation. Authorities have stated that the raids aim to dismantle ISIS-related networks and prevent any potential terror attacks in India.
In a related development, another suspected ISIS terrorist named Ashar Danish was arrested from Tabrak Lodge in Islamnagar, Ranchi, Jharkhand. Danish had been living at the lodge for a prolonged period. He is originally from Petarwar in Bokaro district, Jharkhand. Acting on intelligence received by the Delhi Police Special Cell, a joint operation with Jharkhand ATS led to his arrest.
During the operation, police seized several electronic devices believed to contain crucial information regarding ISIS operations and contacts in India. Danish is currently being interrogated by the authorities, and he will be taken to Delhi on remand for further investigation.
Officials have emphasized that these arrests are part of a larger nationwide counter-terror strategy, aimed at preventing radicalisation and identifying terror networks before they can carry out attacks. The coordinated efforts between the Delhi Police, Jharkhand ATS, and other central agencies highlight the growing focus on intelligence-based operations and rapid action against suspected terrorists.
The Delhi Police Special Cell has assured that investigations are ongoing and more details will be shared as the operation progresses. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may aid law enforcement in preventing terror threats.
