Gold and cash worth crores of rupees were stolen from the Delhi Police Special Cell’s storehouse at Lodhi Colony. The main accused is Head Constable Khursheed, who has been arrested. Khursheed was earlier posted in the Special Cell and was in charge of the storehouse, which keeps items seized in criminal cases. These items are stored until they are needed in court as evidence. Though he had been transferred to East Delhi, he returned to the Lodhi Colony office and allegedly carried out the theft.

The Special Cell is responsible for handling cases related to terrorism and gangs. An investigation is underway.Khursheed entered the Special Cell office without anyone getting suspicious, as other staff thought he was there for work. But during this visit, he stole gold and cash and left quietly.

The theft was discovered later during an audit, and an FIR was registered. During the investigation, the police found clues that led to Khursheed. He admitted to the theft when questioned. So far, the police have recovered ₹50 lakh in cash and a large amount of gold from him. They are now checking if he was involved in similar thefts before.
This incident has raised questions about security and monitoring, especially since it happened in an important unit of the Delhi Police.
