A man attacked a group of people in Boulder, Colorado, on Sunday using Molotov cocktails and a homemade flamethrower. The group had gathered to remember Israeli hostages still held in Gaza. At least six people were hurt.The attacker, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, shouted “Free Palestine” during the attack. He has been arrested by the police.The incident happened near a walk organized to show support for the hostages. Police quickly responded after getting reports of a man setting people on fire, said Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn. The six people injured are between 67 and 88 years old. All of them were taken to the hospital with burns. One of them is in serious condition.

When someone told him, "You can't do that," he replied, "Yes, you can." Locals are seen helping the injured, pouring water on them as they lie on the ground in pain.FBI official Kash Patel called the attack "targeted," and Colorado's attorney general said it appeared to be a hate crime. Police said Soliman acted alone and there are no other suspects.

Police evacuated several blocks in Boulder’s pedestrian mall after the attack. Officers and a police dog searched the area for more threats and told people to stay away.Tensions in the U.S. are growing because of the Israel-Hamas conflict. Reports show a rise in antisemitic acts and clashes between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian groups. Former President Donald Trump and other leaders have called manypro-Palestinian protests antisemitic. His administration also acted against protestors and cut funds to some universities where protests were held.

The Boulder attack happened shortly after another violent incident in Washington, D.C., where a man shot and killed two Israeli embassy staff members after a Jewish community event.Boulder's Jewish community said, “We are heartbroken that someone threw a firebomb at people during the Run for Their Lives walk on Pearl Street. They were raising awareness about hostages still held in Gaza.”
