Three Indian Army soldiers lost their lives in a massive avalanche at the Siachen Glacier in Ladakh on Tuesday, September 9. The avalanche hit a high-altitude base camp, trapping the soldiers under snow and debris.

All three soldiers’ bodies were recovered following a large-scale rescue operation in the area. Authorities are providing more details as the situation is fully assessed.

The GOC of the Fire and Fury Corps, along with all ranks, paid tribute to the fallen soldiers. “We salute Sepoy Mohit Kumar, Agniveer Niraj Kumar Choudhary, and Agniveer Dabhi Rakesh Devabhai, who made a supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in #Siachen on 09 Sep 2025 and offer deep condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief,” the statement said.

The brave soldiers’ sacrifice highlights the extreme challenges faced by troops stationed at the world’s highest battlefield. The army continues to strengthen safety and rescue measures in the glacier region to prevent such tragedies in the future.
