Punjab Police have arrested YouTuber Jasbir Singh, who runs a channel called “Jaan Mahal” with over 1.1 million subscribers. He was taken into custody by the State Special Operations Cell in Mohali for allegedly being part of a spy network supported by Pakistan.
Jasbir Singh is from Mahlan village in Rupnagar district. Police say he was in contact with a Pakistani intelligence officer named Shakir, also known as Jutt Randhawa, who is believed to be working for Pakistan’s ISI. Singh was also in touch with another Pakistani, Ehsan-ur-Rahim (also known as Danish), a former official at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi who was sent back to Pakistan earlier for spying.
Singh had attended Pakistan National Day celebrations at the Pakistani Embassy in Delhi, where he met Pakistani army officers and vloggers. He also travelled to Pakistan three times- in 2020, 2021, and 2024.This is the second arrest of a digital content creator in recent weeks, after Haryana’s Jyoti Malhotra, who was also in touch with Singh. After her arrest, Singh reportedly tried to delete all chats with ISI contacts. Police are now checking the Pakistan-based numbers found on his devices.
Punjab Police are working hard to uncover and stop a spy and terror network supported by Pakistan. They aim to find all the people involved. According to the Punjab Police’s post on X, Jasbir Singh, who runs the YouTube channel “Jaan Mahal,” is linked to Shakir, also called Jutt Randhawa, a Pakistani intelligence agent. Singh was also in contact with Jyoti Malhotra, a Haryana-based YouTuber arrested for spying, and Ehsan-ur-Rahim (Danish), a Pakistani who was expelled from India for spying.
Police say their investigation is ongoing to break down the whole network and arrest all helpers. Until now, seven people have been arrested for spying for Pakistan. Falaksher Masih and Suraj Masih were caught in Ajnala, Amritsar. Last month, Guzala and Yameen Mohammad from Malerkotla were also arrested. More recently, Sukhpreet Singh and Karanbir Singh were arrested in Gurdaspur for sharing secret military information with Pakistan’s ISI.
