An explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in deatPunjab's Sri Muktsar Sahib district on Friday led to the death of at least five individuals and left around 25 others injured. The incident caused the two-storey structure of the factory to collapse, trapping several workers under the debris. 

Rescue efforts were underway to locate and assist those who were still trapped.The blast occurred at a facility situated along the Singhawali-Kotli road. Lambi area’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jaspal Singh, confirmed the explosion and stated that the reason behind it is still being examined. Local police and administrative teams reached the site shortly after receiving information and initiated relief work.Those injured were transported to AIIMS Bathinda for medical care. Authorities are assessing the damage and ensuring safety at the site.

In a separate case reported from Pune on Wednesday, a gas leak triggered an explosion at a residence, leaving four members of a family with severe burn injuries. The family was residing in the Wadkar Mala area. As per initial reports, the explosion was caused by a loose stove knob that resulted in an LPG leak. The blast occurred when the woman in the house attempted to ignite the stove using a lighter, sparking a fire. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital. Both incidents are under investigation. Officials have urged factories and households to observe proper safety guidelines while handling explosive or flammable substances.
