In view of the current situation in Iran, all Indian nationals & persons of Indian origin in Iran are requested to remain vigilant, avoid all unnecessary movements, follow the Embassy’s Social Media accounts & observe safety protocols as advised by local authorities.
Due to rising tensions, India has started evacuating its citizens from Iran. The first group of 110 Indians crossed into Armenia late Monday night. India has also requested Iran to help safely evacuate over 10,000 students still in the country. Since Iran’s airspace is closed, Tehran has suggested that students leave through land borders with Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, or Afghanistan.
About Conflict
Israel and Iran continued to attack each other for the fifth day in a row on Tuesday. Iranian media reported loud explosions and active air defence systems in Tehran, with smoke rising in the eastern part of the city after suspected Israeli airstrikes. Air defences were also activated in Natanz, a key nuclear site located about 320 km from Tehran, according to the Asriran news website.
In Israel, sirens went off in Tel Aviv after midnight, but there were no confirmed missile hits. Iran has asked Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia to convince U.S. President Donald Trump to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire, sources told Reuters. In return, Iran hinted it might show more flexibility in ongoing nuclear talks, according to Iranian and regional officials.
Meanwhile, President Trump, who left the G7 Summit in Canada early, held a security meeting with top officials to discuss the growing conflict in the Middle East. Earlier in the day, Trump posted a warning on his social media platform urging people to leave Tehran. He wrote, “IRAN CANNOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran.”
