A school teacher in Himachal Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing 24 girl students. The incident took place at a government school in the Sirmaur district and came to light during a school programme called 'Shiksha Samvad'. During the session, students from classes 8 to 10 complained to the principal about the maths teacher’s inappropriate behaviour.

The students also gave a written complaint saying the teacher had touched them inappropriately. Their parents were called to the school, and many of them were shocked as they had no idea about the harassment. After hearing the complaints, the parents protested and demanded action.

police case has been registered under the POCSO Act and other sections. The teacher has been taken into custody for three days and has also been suspended. The Director of School Education has called it a serious matter and asked the local education officer to begin an investigation immediately. The Director of School Education has asked the Deputy Director to personally visit the school, speak to the students, teachers, and staff, and submit a report within a week.

Yogesh Rolta, the Additional Superintendent of Police in Sirmaur, said the case is serious and is being treated as a top priority. He added that statements have been taken, and a visit to the school has been completed. The accused teacher was taken to court on Sunday evening and sent to police custody for three days.
