A young girl in Chennai was taken to the hospital after she found a piece of glass in her sealed boba drink bottle and thought it was ice. The incident happened on April 27 when her mother bought the drink from a Frozen Bottle store in Thoraipakkam.

The girl’s mother, Jahnavi Sanghavi, who teaches history, shared the experience on LinkedIn. She said, "On April 27, I bought a boba drink from Frozen Bottle in Thoraipakkam, Chennai. Even though the bottle was sealed, it had pieces of glass inside."

Her daughter put a piece of glass in her mouth, thinking it was ice, but quickly realised it was glass and spat it out. She was taken to the hospital for a check-up right away.

The next day, the girl started vomiting and had to be admitted to the hospital again. Jahnavi said she contacted Frozen Bottle, and Vipul Chaudhary, the company’s marketing lead, promised they would take responsibility and pay for the hospital bills. She submitted all the medical papers to the company.

It has been more than 20 days, and the company has not responded to them, Ms. Sanghavi said. She added, “My calls and emails have been ignored.” When she stressed the seriousness of the situation, the company reportedly said, “We produce over 2.5 crore bottles a month; one case will not affect our brand.” Ms. Sanghavi called this reply careless and irresponsible, especially since it involves people’s health.

She has filed a complaint with the consumer court.“This is not just about my family, it is a warning for all consumers and a call for better quality control, corporate responsibility, and fair customer service in the food and drink industry,” she said.

Her post went viral, with many people showing support in the comments. One user wrote, “Frozen Bottle should take responsibility for this issue.” Another said, “I will stop buying from this brand and tell others to do the same.”“Frozen Bottle is risking its reputation with this careless attitude and bad customer treatment,” another comment said.

Ms. Sanghavi warned people not to buy from Frozen Bottle until the company takes responsibility and proves it cares about consumer safety. She also asked Founder Pranshul Yadav and CEO Arunkumar Balasubramanian to address the problem right away.
