An Air India flight from Chicago to Delhi had to return to the airport because most of its toilets stopped working. According to the aviation website View From The Wing, Air India Flight 216 took off as planned but had to turn back when 11 out of 12 toilets got clogged.

With only one working toilet for all passengers, the airline had no choice but to cancel the journey and return to Chicago. This caused trouble for the passengers, who had to wait for new arrangements to continue their trip. The report states that the flight turned back about four and a half hours after takeoff when it was flying over Greenland. The return journey took the same amount of time, making it a 10-hour unpleasant experience for the passengers.

With only one working toilet for more than 300 people on board, the situation became very difficult for travelers. A user on X shared a video showing the chaos on the flight, but the authenticity of the video is not verified yet. Air India confirmed that the flight had to turn back after being in the air for about five hours due to a technical issue.

“Flight AI126, operating from Chicago to Delhi on March 6, 2025, returned to Chicago because of a technical problem. After landing, all passengers and crew safely disembarked. They were provided with accommodation to reduce inconvenience. Alternative arrangements are being made to take them to their destination,” an Air India spokesperson said.

The airline’s spokesperson stated that passengers could either get a full refund or reschedule their flight for free. A frustrated passenger shared their struggle after booking a first-class ticket for their cousin using LifeMiles with Avianca airline to attend a wedding in India.

“We’re now stuck dealing with customer service from Avianca, LifeMiles, and Air India, trying to get a refund for the miles ticket,” they told View From the Wing.
