In Maharashtra’s Nanded city, 31 students had to be taken to the hospital early Thursday morning after they fell sick from eating pani puri at a roadside food stall.

The students started showing signs of vomiting, nausea, and uneasiness after eating from the same pani puri stall. The first patients began arriving at the hospital around 4 a.m., and more followed.

An official from the hospital said,

“Thirty-one students were admitted to Dr Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College and Hospital, 4 am onwards, after they started visiting the medical facility with complaints of vomiting, nausea, and uneasiness following consumption of 'pani puri' at a single stall.”

The sick students belong to three different colleges in the city: Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, SGGS College, and a local nursing college

Doctors checked all 31 students and then admitted them to different wards for treatment. The hospital said that their condition is stable now and they are being looked after properly.

Be careful with street food

Street food like pani puri, chaat, or momos may look tasty, but it's important to be careful. Sometimes, these foods are made in unhygienic conditions where hands aren't washed, water isn't clean, and food is kept out too long. This can lead to food poisoning, stomach infections, or serious illness. Always check if the stall looks clean, the vendor uses gloves, and the ingredients are fresh.

Eating safely helps you enjoy your favorite snacks without falling sick.
