Residents of Mattaur, Mohali, were left shocked after a horrifying discovery during a raid at a fast food factory. A dog’s head was found inside a fridge at a Momos and spring roll factory operating out of a house. This disturbing incident has raised serious concerns about food safety and hygiene in the area.

A civic squad raided the factory on Sunday following complaints by residents about the substandard food being manufactured. The factory has been providing more than a quintal (100 kg) of momos and spring rolls per day to different areas in Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Kalka for the last two years.

When the officials raided the premises, they were horrified to discover what looked like a pug's head in the freezer. Some of the residents who witnessed it screamed in terror, exclaiming "Billa."

Municipal officials have now explained that the dog's head was not being used to cook food but was apparently being eaten by some of the factory employees. The head has been handed over to the Veterinary Department to verify whether dog meat was being served in the factory's products.

During the raidI, large amounts of spoiled food and unhygienic surroundings were found. The officials found the workers washing hands with dirty water and rotten vegetables to prepare the food. Roughly 60 kg of frozen chicken was also discovered at some chicken shops in Mattaur. Momos, spring rolls, and other foodstuff samples were collected and sent for analysis.

The raid continued up to Monday, with several other food production facilities suspected of breaching hygiene standards being raided.

The factory was discovered to be running without registration, which is illegal. The District Health Officer (DHO) inspected two of the raided premises and noted numerous breaches. Legal action will be taken against the factory owners and other parties involved in the business.

Mohali Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangita Jaina agreed that suggestions have been given to the Deputy Commissioner and the police. "Once the written report is submitted, necessary legal steps will be taken," she said.

Public health authorities have begun a thorough investigation into the issue. Citizens are calling for stricter food production monitoring in the locality in order to avoid such horrific incidents from occurring again.
