A major fire broke out at Lok Bandhu Raj Narayan Hospital in Lucknow on Monday night, leading to the evacuation of approximately 200 patients. The blaze originated on the second floor of the hospital, producing dense smoke that permeated the building and caused panic among patients and staff.

Firefighters, alongside hospital personnel and local authorities, immediately initiated evacuation procedures, transferring patients to nearby medical facilities such as Civil, Balrampur, KGMU, and Lohia hospitals. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with preliminary reports suggesting a potential short circuit.

So far, there have been no reports of injuries or casualties from the fire. At least 200 patients were safely transferred to other medical facilities. The exact cause of the blaze remains unknown. Several reports indicate that around 35-40 patients were on the affected floor when the fire started, prompting both staff and patients to flee for safety. The hospital's power was cut off, forcing people to navigate in the darkness.

“A fire broke out at Lok Bandhu Hospital, but thankfully all 200 patients were safely evacuated. There have been no reports of injuries or casualties,” confirmed UP Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak. “Fire officials are inside the building, working to bring the situation under control.”

District Magistrate Visakh G Iyer stated that the ICU, a female ward, and another ward were impacted by the blaze. “The rescue operation was promptly initiated, and all patients from the affected wards have been shifted to three different hospitals,” he added.

Police Commissioner Amarendra Singh Sengar also assured that every patient was safely moved to nearby healthcare centres. Authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire and considering additional safety measures.
