A young couple’s dream of starting a new life together ended in tragedy in South Goa, where police have arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly killing his girlfriend.

The accused, Sanjay Kevin M, is a resident of North Bengaluru, Karnataka. His girlfriend, Roshni Moses M, also 22, belonged to the same area.

According to officials, the couple had recently travelled from Bengaluru to Goa with plans to get married. But something went terribly wrong.

“They came to Goa from Bengaluru to get married. But due to some unknown reason, there was a dispute between the two, and two days ago, Sanjay killed Roshni and threw the body in the forest,” the police said.

The horrifying incident came to light on Monday evening, when Roshni’s body was found in a forested area of Pratap Nagar, South Goa.

Police confirmed that her throat had been slit, and launched an immediate investigation into the murder.

Superintendent of Police (South GoaTikam Singh Verma, who visited the crime scene, said:

“This murder was the result of a love affair, a marriage proposal, and the dispute that arose from it.”

After the body was discovered, police gathered clues that led them to Sanjay, who had reportedly fled back to Bengaluru after committing the crime.

With the help of local authorities, he was traced and arrested in Bengaluru within 24 hours of the body being found.

The investigation is currently ongoing, and police are looking into what exactly triggered the fatal dispute between the two.
