In Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, a five-year-old girl is fighting to stay alive after a terrible attack. A 17-year-old boy from her neighbourhood physically assaulted her, including raping her. The girl is now in the hospital with many injuries on her body.
The police said the boy took the girl from her home to an empty building nearby and attacked her there. They have arrested him. The girl’s parents want the boy to be punished like an adult, not a child.
The police further said, after raping the girl, the boy also tried to kill her by hitting her head on the ground many times. This caused serious head injuries. The girl is now in ahospitalin Gwalior, fighting to stay alive.
Doctors told the girl was taken to the hospital with injuries all over her body and serious harm to her private areas. She had a big surgery and needed 28 stitches in her private parts. Reports say the boy was drunk when he took the girl from her house’s rooftop to an empty building nearby on February 22. There, he raped her and hurt her badly, leaving her unconscious.
When she woke up, she told her parents what happened. This led to them reporting it to the police, who then took action. The incident has caused widespread anger, with many calling for strict punishment. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia from Gwalior condemned the crime and told the local police and administration to act quickly to ensure justice.
He tweeted that there is no room for such crimes in the region and that strict action must be taken to prevent them from happening again. The girl's family has asked for the accused to be tried as an adult and given the death penalty.
