A dreadful incident took place in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, at a medical college where dogs attacked a newborn baby, tearing apart its head. The dogs tore the baby’s head apart, and the hospital later declared the baby dead. By the time people managed to chase the dogs away, the damage had already been done, leaving the community in shock while authorities began investigating the event.

The hospital administration has claimed that the family abandoned the baby's body in a plastic bag.The baby was born on Sunday, February 9, at the District Women's Hospital of Lalitpur Medical College. The newborn was underweight and unwell, so he was admitted to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU).

Dr. Meenakshi Singh, the Chief Medical Officer, explained that the child was born with serious congenital defects. The baby's head was not fully developed, it did not have a spine, and it weighed only 1.3 kg. When the baby was moved to the SNCU, its heart was beating at 80 beats per minute, but its survival was uncertain. Sadly, the baby passed away by the evening. The hospital then handed over the body to the family, with the child's aunt taking charge. The hospital has a record of this transfer, including the aunt's thumb impression.

On Tuesday afternoon, the hospital received news of a dog attack. An investigation revealed that the headless body of the baby was found on the ground. The hospital administration alleged that the family had abandoned the body, believing that it was thrown away in a plastic bag. The baby’s hospital tag, which was still attached, helped in identifying the body. The body was removed just a few hours before the police were informed.

In response, Lalitpur Medical College Principal D Nath formed a committee of four doctors and ordered a complete investigation report to be submitted within 24 hours. This incident adds to previous reports of negligence at the hospital.
