Kushagra Gupta has made Karnataka proud by securing a perfect 100 percentile in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025, Session 1 of Paper 1. He is the only student from the state to achieve this score. Across India, a total of 14 students secured 100 percentile.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the results on February 11. The exam was conducted between January 22 and 29 at 618 centres across 304 cities, including 15 locations outside India. This year, 1,258,136 candidates appeared for the exam.

Among the 14 toppers, Rajasthan had the highest number, with five students scoring 100 percentile. Delhi and Uttar Pradesh each had two students achieving this perfect score.

Apart from Kushagra, Udit Jaiswal also performed exceptionally well. He secured a 99.996 percentile. Udit, a student of Geethanjali Vidyalaya, Kaggadasapura, attended coaching classes at Allen and studied for four to five hours daily outside school. He has a strong interest in aerospace and rockets. In his free time, he enjoys stargazing with his telescope. “The interest in space came when I was reading something about it long ago. I love exploring new spaces,” he said.

Another Karnataka topper is Bhavesh Jayanthi, a student of Sri Chaitanya Techno School, Marathahalli. He scored in the 99.9992 percentile, with a perfect 100 percentile in maths and physics and a 99.964 percentile in Chemistry. Originally from Hyderabad, Bhavesh studied at Sri Chaitanya Whitefield until Class 10 before moving to the Marathahalli branch for Classes 11 and 12. “Math has been my favourite subject and my forte. It has been so since my childhood. I like computer science and coding. I used to code when in high school, when I used to find time,” he said.

The JEE Main exam is an important test for students seeking admission to top engineering colleges, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
