Food tech giant Zomato has now officially renamed itself to Eternal Ltd., a major move in its corporate identity. The company's board has approved the name change, and a February 6 filing with the stock exchange confirmed this decision. But the Zomato app remains unchanged, continuing to operate under its original name, while only the stock ticker symbol changes from Zomatoto Eternal.

In a letter filed with the Bombay Stock Exchange, Deepinder Goyal, Group CEO and co-founder of Zomato, explained why. He said the company had internally started using "Eternal" when it acquired Blinkit, distinguishing the broader company from its food delivery app.

"We also thought that we would publicly rename the company to Eternal, the day something beyond Zomato became a significant driver of our future. Today, with Blinkit, I feel we are there," Goyal wrote.

What comes under Eternal Ltd.?

Eternal Ltd. corporate identity will cover four business verticals.

Zomato is a food delivery app

Blinkit quick commerce platform

Hyperpure B2B supplies for restaurants

District restaurant services & infrastructure

While the rebranding is a major move, Goyal clarified that the Zomato brand and app will remain unchanged, dismissing previous speculations about renaming the popular food delivery service.

What does 'Eternal' mean for future purposes?

Goyal described the name change as more than a corporate decision; he sees it as a 'mission statement' that reflects their vision.

"Eternal is a powerful name, and to be honest, it scares me to my core. It is a tall order to live up to. Because ‘Eternal’ carries both a promise and a paradox," he stated in his letter.

He further added, "This isn’t just a name change; it is a mission statement. A reminder etched into our identity that we will endure—not because we are here, but because we need to get there."

As Eternal Ltd., the company will focus on its long-term vision while maintaining the robust presence of its food delivery arm.
