Blinkit, a quick commerce platform, announced on Thursday that it has launched an "ambulance in 10 minutes" service to improve access to emergency medical care.

In a social media post, Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa shared that the company introduced its first five ambulances in Gurugram. He mentioned that more areas will be covered soon, and people can book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance through the @letsblinkit app.

Ambulances contain important life-saving tools like oxygen cylinders, AEDs, stretchers, monitors, suction machines, and emergency medicines. Each ambulance has a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver to provide fast and quality care during emergencies.

Dhinsad said, "Profit is not our goal; providing affordable and efficient emergency services is our primary focus.”
The company plans to gradually expand the service and reach more cities over the next two years.
"Let's all do our part and make space for ambulances whenever possible. You never know when you could save a life," Dhindsa added.

Many social media users praised the initiative, while others shared funny reactions. One X user wrote, "Blinkit launches a 10-minute ambulance service, a much-needed step. The average ambulance wait time in India is 25-30 minutes. The first 5 ambulances in Gurugram are starting today. Blinkit, how about teaming up with the Income Tax department for 10-minute income tax refunds too?"

Another social media user said, the initiative, saying, “What Blinkit is doing is commendable, but we should also question why the government isn’t able to provide a basic, reliable ambulance service across India.”

Blinkit is a part of Zomato, an Indian multinational food delivery and restaurant discovery platform. Zomato acquired Blinkit (formerly Grofers) in 2021, expanding its quick-commerce offerings to include grocery delivery.
Zomato's stock closed at Rs 284.85 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), reflecting a 3.02% increase from the previous day's closing price of Rs 276.50. The company's market capitalisation is currently Rs 266,832 crore.
