US President Donald Trump recently announced a $500 billion project focused at improving artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. The project, named Stargate, was introduced at the White House with the support of major business leaders, including OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle. The initiative focuses on building large data centres in Texas to support new technologies. According to the business leaders involved, this project could even help find cures for diseases like cancer.

During the announcement of the $500 billion Stargate AI project, Donald Trump marked the significance of the initiative, saying “These world-leading technology giants are announcing the formation of Stargate. So put that name down in your books because I think you’re going to hear a lot about it in the future, a new American company that will invest at least $500 billion in AI infrastructure in the United States.”

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also praised Trump for his support, saying, “We wouldn’t be able to do this without you, Mr. President.” Altman emphasized the potential impact of the project, predicting that it would lead to groundbreaking advances in medicine, such as curing cancer and heart disease quickly.

Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle explains how the Stargate project could revolutionize healthcare, saying, “AI can detect cancer early by analyzing tiny fragments of tumours in the blood. Once we sequence the tumour, AI can create a personalized mRNA vaccine for the patient within 48 hours, using automated systems.”

Donald Trump points out the project's potential, stating it would create 100,000 jobs and position the US as a leader in advanced technology. The initiative, starting in Texas, will receive $100 billion annually, with investments possibly reaching $500 billion over four years as it expands nationwide.
