A passenger plane carrying around 50 people, including children, has gone missing in Russia’s Far East. The aircraft, an An-24, was operated by the Siberia-based Angara airline. It was flying toward the town of Tynda in the Amur region, which borders China, when it disappeared from radar.

The regional governor, Vasily Orlov, confirmed the news. He said, “All necessary forces and resources have been deployed to search for the plane.” According to him, there were 43 passengers on board, including five children, along with six crew members.

The local emergencies ministry also confirmed that the plane vanished while approaching Tynda. However, they gave a slightly different number, saying about 40 people were believed to be on board.

Officials said air traffic controllers lost contact with the plane midway through its flight. The aircraft is believed to have gone missing just a few kilometres away from its destination. A source told Russian news agency TASS, “An An-24 operated by Angara Airlines failed to make contact at a designated checkpoint a few kilometres from Tynda Airport.”

A large-scale search operation is currently happening in the area. Emergency teams and equipment have been sent to find the plane.

So far, there is no news about what happened to the aircraft or if any passengers are safe. Authorities are continuing the search and hope to find the missing plane soon.
