An Indian-origin man was shot dead outside a Robinson Township motel on October 3 after stepping out to check a disturbance in the parking lot.

The incident began when 37-year-old Stanley Eugene West allegedly shot a woman following a heated argument outside a motel. Hearing the commotion, 50-year-old motel manager Rakesh Ehagaban came out to check and asked West, “Are you alright, bud?”

Surveillance footage reportedly shows West approaching Ehagaban, pulling out a gun from just a foot away, and firing a fatal shot to his head at point-blank range. Ehagaban died on the spot.

Stanley Eugene West has been charged with criminal homicide, attempted homicide, and reckless endangerment after a deadly shooting outside a motel in Robinson Township. Police said West had been staying at the motel for almost two weeks with a woman and a child.

On the day of the shooting, the woman was sitting in a black car with the child when West allegedly shot at the driver’s side, breaking the window. The woman was seriously injured but managed to drive to a nearby auto service center, where police found her. The child was not hurt.

Hearing the commotion, Rakesh Ehagaban, the 50-year-old motel manager, came outside to check. He reportedly asked West, “Are you alright, bud?” Surveillance footage shows West walking up to Ehagaban from just a foot away and firing a gun at his head. Ehagaban died instantly.

After killing the manager, West calmly walked to a U-Haul truck and drove away. Police later found his vehicle in East Hills. When officers approached, West allegedly opened fire again, hitting a Pittsburgh detective in the leg. The police returned fire, hitting West multiple times, and took him into custody.

The injured detective is now recovering at home, according to Acting Pittsburgh Police Chief Martin Devine.This shocking chain of events started with the attack on the woman and ended with the tragic death of Ehagaban, leaving the community shaken and authorities investigating the violent incident.
