While working to stop illegal immigration, US President Donald Trump said he is more worried about illegal immigrants than about Russian President Vladimir Putin. On Truth Social, he mentioned that the focus should be on preventing groups like migrant rape gangs, drug lords, murderers, and people from mental institutions from entering the country so that America does not end up like Europe.

Earlier, Trump stated on Truth Social that during his first month in office, he had reduced illegal immigration to a historic low. He proudly declared that "the invasion of our country is OVER," marking the success of his strict border security measures and policy changes.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that his first full month in office, February, saw the lowest number of illegal immigrants trying to enter the country ever. He claimed that only 8,326 people were caught by the Border Patrol at the U.S.-Mexico border, and all were quickly sent back or prosecuted for crimes. He declared, "The Invasion of our Country is OVER."

Trump also compared his policies to those of his predecessor, Joe Biden. He said that under Biden, 300,000 illegal immigrants crossed the border in one month and were mostly allowed to stay. According to Trump, thanks to his administration’s policies, the border is now closed to illegal immigrants, and anyone trying to enter illegally will face serious criminal penalties and immediate deportation.

Trump's comments came a week after his deputy, JD Vance, shared a similar view and criticized Europe for not stopping illegal immigration. At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Maryland, Vance said that illegal immigration is the "greatest threat" facing both the US and Europe.

He added, "The biggest threat in Europe, and I would say it was the biggest threat in the US until about 30 days ago, is that the leaders of the West decided to allow millions of unvetted foreign migrants into their countries."
