The fascination of the past's mysteries still draws attention, and a controversial one has just reemerged on social media. The Instagram page @desijourneyofficial shared a viral video recently that again started a debate over the ancient tradition when kings supposedly used to make queens wear iron undies, tying it up tight before going on hunting excursions so the queen could not cheat.
In the popular video, a person shows what looks like iron underwear, saying it is at least 500 years old. “This is ladies’ underwear,” the individual says, explaining that suspicious rulers would employ such devices to keep their wives loyal when they were away. The design, as indicated in the video, appears to permit simple movement and everyday functions, fueling the speculation of its actual purpose.

The video has garnered a whopping 18 crore views, 24 lakh likes, and 45,000 comments, with more than 1.48 crore shares. Naturally, the comment section is filled with varied reactions. Some users simply rule out the claim, questioning the feasibility of such a device. Instagram user Rooh Bindh, for example, expresses doubt, questioning whether the gadget would have actually worked.
Some others have presented competing theories. One of them is that of Madhavi Chaudhary, who argues that the iron undergarment may not have been for queens at all. Rather, she hypothesizes that it could have been used by kings themselves on the battlefield as protection.
While some continue to be interested in the likelihood of this ritual being genuine, others suggest that it might be a misunderstanding or even a flat-out fabrication. Whatever the case, the video has certainly created interest, showing that the past still has many secrets to be revealed.
