A heart-touching moment recently took place in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. A 93-year-old man named Nivrutti Shinde walked into a jewellery shop with his wife, Shantabai. He was wearing a simple white dhoti-kurta and a cap. Looking at his humble appearance, the shop staff first thought he had come to ask for help.

But what happened next surprised everyone.

The elderly man politely said he wanted to buy a mangalsutra (a sacred necklace worn by married women) for his wife. This simple and loving gesture moved the shop owner. The owner felt emotional and gave the mangalsutra to the old man for just Rs 20.

“The couple entered the shop, and the man gave me Rs 1,120, saying he wanted to buy a mangalsutra for his wife. I was overwhelmed by his gesture. I just took Rs 20 from him as a token of blessings and handed over the mangalsutra to the couple,” the shop owner said.

The beautiful moment was caught on video and has gone viral on social media, receiving over two crore views. People are touched by the deep love the elderly man showed towards his wife.

Nivrutti Shinde and his wife come from Ambhora Jahagir village in Jalna district. They belong to a simple farming family. The couple is currently on a padayatra (a walk on foot) to Pandharpur for the Ashadhi Ekadashi festival.

Locals say the couple always travels together and takes care of each other. Though they have a son, they mostly depend on each other and the kindness of strangers during their journey.

This heartwarming story reminds everyone that true love doesn’t need expensive gifts — it only needs a pure heart.
