Vikas Swami, a Meerut-based yoga practitioner, has joined the elite Guinness World Records by lifting 125 kg using his teeth. The feat, which was performed in Milan, Italy, on February 14, was accomplished by Swami with the help of his two sons and resulted in a record that brought him international recognition.

Swami was able to lift 125 kg using his teeth for an unbelievable 35.57 seconds, becoming a world record. This is coming after his previous time on India's Got Talent in 2023 when he used the same method to lift 80 kg.

Recalling the challenge, Swami mentioned, “It was an extremely tough record to break. The time limit set for us was a huge challenge. In the first attempt, we could hold the weight for only 25 seconds. But in the second attempt, we managed to hold it for 35.57 seconds.”

Swami’s sons, Anmol Swami (16) and Aditya Swami (10), played a very important role in helping their father achieve this milestone. The family’s shared efforts and understanding led them to earn certificates for their impressive accomplishment.

Swami proudly shared, “This is not just a personal accomplishment but a proud moment for our region and the entire country.”

While Swami’s victory has brought immense pride to his village, his homecoming was bittersweet. Even after his incredible achievement, Swami expressed his disappointment over the lack of recognition from the government and elected representatives.

“The government has not given us any support so far. Athletes who win medals in other sports receive awards and even government jobs, but we have not received a single penny. Forget about ministers, even MPs and MLAs have not acknowledged our achievement. Only our village community has honored us,” he said.

When questioned about the key to his remarkable ability, Swami was secretive initially, only admitting it to be a special oil that he puts on prior to going to sleep, which he feels helps him in his strength. He insisted that yoga has been a major factor in his success.

“I do not use any toothpaste or artificial products for my teeth. Yoga gives us the strength to overcome even the most severe illnesses,” he added.

His journey to success was not without hardships. In 2010, he suffered a severe accident while working as a school bus driver, which resulted in memory loss. Even with the obstacles, he turned to yoga, which he says has helped him to rebuild his life and pursue his dreams.

“I met with an accident on Sardhana Road in Meerut and suffered significant memory loss. I had to undergo prolonged treatment at home and in the hospital,” Swami recalled.

It was during the recovery that he took to yoga as a way of life, which ultimately helped him become a world record-holder.

Swami's dreams for his sons are just as inspiring. “I want my children to progress and carve their own identities. Today, if we are recognised globally, it is because of yoga. We will continue to make India proud on the world stage,” he said.

With 29 awards under their belt, Swami and his sons are set to keep making waves in the records and yoga world.
