Team India will play the Asia Cup 2025 without a sponsor logo on their jersey, sources have confirmed to India Today. The BCCI is in the process of finding a new sponsor, but instead of rushing for a short-term deal for the Asia Cup, the board wants to rope in a long-term partner until the 2027 ODI World Cup. With the continental tournament starting on September 9, officials admitted that there isn’t enough time to complete the entire process before the event begins.

This sponsorship gap comes after Dream11 ended its association with the Indian cricket team after the passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act. The new law restricts companies involved in online money gaming from advertising or sponsoring sports events, leaving the BCCI with no option but to end the agreement.

On August 28, an emergency Apex Council meeting was chaired by interim BCCI president Rajeev Shukla to discuss the issue. During the meeting, officials explored ways to find a new sponsor, though the time crunch makes the task difficult before the Asia Cup.BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the end of the Dream11 deal, stating, “With the new government regulations in place, the BCCI cannot continue its sponsorship relationship with Dream11 or any such other gaming company. Under these restrictions, there is no scope left, and this has become a roadblock.”

The impact of losing Dream11 is significant. Dream11 and My11Circle together contributed nearly ₹1,000 crore to the BCCI through title sponsorships of the Indian team and the IPL. Dream11 alone had signed a deal worth $44 million (₹358 crore) for the 2023–2026 cycle as Team India’s title sponsor.

However, the new government law has dealt a major blow to fantasy sports companies in India. It clearly states that “no person shall offer any aid, abet, induce, indulge, engage in offering online money gaming services nor shall be involved in any advertisement which directly or indirectly promotes any person to play any online money game.” With this regulation, one of BCCI’s biggest sponsorship sources has been cut off, and the board now faces the challenge of finding a fresh sponsor ahead of major tournaments.
