Meerut Police has filed a case against an Instagram user for sharing an AI-generated deepfake video that falsely depicts a senior police inspector in uniform kissing Muskan Rastogi, a 26-year-old woman accused of murdering her husband, Saurabh Rajput, with the help of her boyfriend, Sahil Shukla.
Officials stated that a senior sub-inspector from Brahmpuri Police Station lodged an FIR against the Instagram account "priyanshurox_31" under the Information Technology (IT) Act. The controversial AI video, which has gone viral, allegedly shows Muskan, who is currently in police custody, kissing the officer.
The inspector, in his complaint, claimed that the AI-generated video was created and shared to damage his reputation. The Instagram account, which has over 75,000 followers, has several other AI-edited videos featuring Muskan Rastogi and her boyfriend Sahil Shukla.
Meerut SP Ayush Vikram Singh stated that the person behind the video will be arrested soon. The case revolves around the murder of former Merchant Navy officer Saurabh Rajput, who was allegedly drugged and stabbed to death by Muskan and Sahil on March 4. They then dismembered his body, sealed it inside a cement-filled drum, and went on a vacation to Himachal Pradesh, all while misleading Saurabh’s family by sending them messages from his phone.
The crime was reported to the police on March 18, leading to Muskan and Sahil’s arrest. Saurabh had married Muskan in 2016 against his family's wishes after a relationship, and they had a six-year-old daughter.
According to the police, Muskan and Sahil had known each other since school and reconnected in 2019 through a WhatsApp group.
Both were sent to judicial custody for 14 days and have been lodged in Chaudhary Charan Singh district jail since March 19. Police revealed that the duo requested to be kept in the same barracks, but their request was denied as it was against jail regulations.
