After the Pahalgam terror attack, India has started a powerful diplomatic mission to speak out against terrorism. Beginning today, seven groups of Indian parliament members (MPs) from different political parties will travel to 33 countries and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Their goal is to share India’s clear and united stand on fighting terrorism.

Before they began their trips, the delegates were briefed by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Tuesday. All seven groups will be on their way by Sunday. The idea is to show the world that India is serious about standing up to terrorism and that all political parties agree on this.

Why these 33 countries?

During the briefing, Mr. Misri explained how the 33 countries were chosen. BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi, who was present, told reporters, “About 15 of them are members of the UN Security Council, which has five permanent and 10 non-permanent members that rotate every two years.”

She also said that the list includes five other countries that will soon become UNSC members, and “some other countries whose voice is usually heard on the global stage.”

One of the teams, led by JDU’s Sanjay Kumar Jha, will visit Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore. BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi is also part of this team. They will be the first group to begin the outreach today.
