Police officials said the woman has been rushed to a hospital, where she is undergoing treatment. Her medical examination has been conducted, and her statement has been recorded. Circle Officer Mahesh Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered against the husband under relevant sections of the law.
After the video’s circulation, the police registered a case against five members of Archana’s in-laws’ family, her husband Sonu Singh (40), father-in-law Prempal, mother-in-law Nehni Devi, brother-in-law Pramod, and his wife Durgesh Devi. All five have been booked under the Dowry Prohibition Act and are currently absconding.
Gaunda SHO Manoj Kumar said police teams have been deployed to trace and arrest the accused. He added that the medical report will confirm the full extent of Archana’s injuries. Iglas DSP Mahesh Kumar confirmed that preliminary investigations suggest the extreme step was triggered by a marital dispute, but dowry harassment is central to the case.
Archana’s brother, Ankit Kumar, revealed that his sister had been harassed and tortured for dowry ever since her marriage six years ago. Despite giving birth to a son and a daughter, the abuse did not stop. According to him, the in-laws repeatedly demanded an additional dowry of ₹5 lakh and a Bullet motorcycle.
The incident has once again showed the dark reality of dowry-linked violence in parts of India, where women continue to face harassment, abuse, and life-threatening pressure from their in-laws. Authorities are also examining the viral video to identify all those involved in the abuse. The incident has raised serious concerns about domestic violence and the trauma faced by children witnessing such violence in their homes.
