A funny incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district, a monkey left locals stunned after it snatched a school teacher’s bag containing ₹80,000 and showered the cash from a tree. The unusual episode turned the entire area into a scene of chaos, with people rushing around to grab as many notes as they could.
The teacher, identified as Rohitash Chandra from Dodapur village, had gone to the tehsil office for land-related work. To keep his money safe, he placed the cash-filled bag inside the trunk of his motorcycle. While he was busy handling his official work, an unexpected thief appeared, a monkey. Quick and clever, the monkey opened the trunk, pulled out the bag, and made its escape.

After climbing up a nearby tree and realising that the bag didn’t contain food, the monkey grew frustrated. In its annoyance, it began tossing ₹500 notes down from the branches. Within moments, the spot turned into a crowd as bystanders rushed to collect the flying cash. The sight of currency raining from a tree created chaos and even laughter among the people gathered there.
The bizarre moment was captured on video and is now circulating widely on social media. However, the funny incident turned costly for the school teacher. Out of the total ₹80,000, he was only able to recover around ₹52,000. The rest, about ₹28,000, was either taken by those present at the spot or damaged by the monkey.
Residents say monkeys have been a persistent problem in the area. They are often seen snatching bags, tearing up important papers, and troubling visitors at the tehsil office. This is not even the first such case. Back in 2021, a similar episode in Shahabad went viral when a monkey grabbed a lawyer’s bag and scattered nearly ₹1 lakh into the air. After much effort, locals helped theTre lawyer recover ₹95,000, but the rest of the money was lost.
