A 23-year-old teacher has been arrested in Surat for allegedly kidnapping an 11-year-old student. The incident came to light after the boy's father filed a missing person complaint with the police. In his complaint, the father stated that his son had been missing and suspected that his teacher, who resides in the same housing society, was involved. CCTV footage from the society confirmed that the teacher had taken the child with her. Based on the evidence, police intensified their investigation and arrested the accused.

The teacher and the 11-year-old student were located near Shamlaji, on the Gujarat-Rajasthan border, after being missing for three days. Police said that on April 25, the teacher, identified as Mansi, left Surat with the child. The two travelled by bus to Ahmedabad, then Vadodara, and reached Delhi. After that, they went to Jaipur, where they stayed in a hotel for two nights.

Authorities have registered a case under the POCSO Act and IPC Section 363 (kidnapping). Further legal action will be taken after the boy undergoes a medical examination. During questioning, Mansi told police that the boy was her tuition student and had been upset after being scolded at home for not studying, while she was under pressure to marry. Frustrated, the two decided to run away and travel to Delhi and Jaipur before returning to Surat.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Bhagirath Singh Gadhvi said that during the initial probe, the teacher admitted to having a physical relationship with the boy. As a result, police have added POCSO Act charges to the case, along with kidnapping. A case has been registered for sexually abusing a minor. Medical tests will be conducted on both the teacher and the student as part of the probe.
