A man in Bihar has been arrested for badly hurting his wife because he suspected her of having an affair. The woman said her husband tortured her in painful ways, he put chilli powder in her private parts and burned her thighs with a hot iron. She also said that he tried to give her an electric shock and locked her in a room without food or water for two days. The man has been identified as Shatrughan Rai, 40 years old. Police have taken him into custody, and further investigation is going on.

The incident took place in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, on June 13. She said her husband locked her in a room, used chilli powder on her private parts, burned her with a hot iron, and even tried to give her an electric shock. She cried for help, but the neighbours were too scared to act. On June 15, her brother arrived and rescued her.

She was first taken to a local health centre, but because her injuries were serious, she was later moved to Shree Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH).On June 16, the woman filed a police case against her husband, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law. Her husband was arrested, but the others are on the run. The police are searching for them.

The woman said the abuse had been going on for months. She and her husband have been married for 10 years and have three children. She even offered to take a medical test to prove her innocence, but instead, her in-laws threatened to kill her.The police have promised action and full support for her.
