The LPG Distributors Association has warned that they will go on an indefinite strike across the country if their demands, like getting a higher commission, are not fulfilled within the next three months. If the strike happens, it could affect the home delivery of gas cylinders for many people.

In a press release after their national meeting in Bhopal, the president of the LPG Distributors Association, BS Sharma, said that members from different states have agreed on a list of demands. He mentioned that they have also sent a letter to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas about these issues.

Sharma said that the current commission given to LPG distributors is too low and doesn’t match the rising cost of operations. According to the letter sent to the Union government, LPG distributors have demanded that their commission be increased to at least ₹150.

The letter also raised other concerns, stating that oil companies are forcing distributors to accept non-domestic gas cylinders even when there is no demand for them, which goes against the rules. The association has asked for this practice to be stopped immediately. They also pointed out ongoing issues with the distribution of LPG cylinders under the Ujjwala Scheme.

The LPG Distributors Association in a letter has warned the central government that they will go on an indefinite nationwide strike if their demands are not met within three months. Their main demands include an increase in commission, which they say is currently too low to cover operational costs.

They have also raised concerns about oil companies forcing distributors to take non-domestic cylinders without demand, which they claim is against the law. Issues related to the distribution of LPG cylinders under the Ujjwala Yojana have also been highlighted. The association has demanded that the commission be raised to at least ₹150 per cylinder.

Meanwhile, on April 7, the government increased the price of domestic LPG cylinders by ₹50. As a result, prices have risen in several cities: Delhi from ₹803 to ₹853, Kolkata from ₹829 to ₹879, Mumbai from ₹802.50 to ₹853.50, and Chennai from ₹818.50 to ₹868.50. The price of Ujjwala Yojana cylinders has also gone up.
