What was meant to be a night of celebration turned into heartbreak in Bengaluru on Wednesday (June 4). At least 11 people lost their lives and several others were injured in a stampede during the celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) first-ever IPL title win in 18 years.
This is one of many stampede incidents that have shaken India in recent months. Since the start of 2025, more than 50 people have died in such incidents at temples, railway stations, and even at the Maha Kumbh.
In January, tragedy struck the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where a massive rush led to the death of 30 people, while 60 others were injured.
Just a month later, in February, chaos broke out at New Delhi Railway Station. A stampede on platforms 14 and 15 killed 18 passengers and left 15 injured. Many of them were devotees traveling to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh.
