Delhi Police on Monday busted a fake “international police station” and an Intelligence Bureau (IB) office operating in Noida, arresting five people. The operation was allegedly masterminded by former Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Bivas Adhikari.

Adhikari, who earlier served as a Block Head in Birbhum, West Bengal, had fled to Noida while facing several investigations in his home state over scams, corruption, and other criminal charges. Once in Noida, he set up a bogus law enforcement network with his associates, creating the impression of an official international police and IB office.

According to police, the group sent fake legal notices to people in West Bengal under the guise of “international legal action,” pressuring them to pay large sums in exchange for help with land disputes, legal settlements, and government favours. Adhikari’s son played a key role, using vehicles with fake Interpol stickers and other props to make the operation look legitimate.

From the premises, police recovered fake ID cards, official-looking signboards, mobile phones, cash, and other documents used to deceive victims. Several cases are already registered against both Adhikari and his son in West Bengal.

Investigations revealed that Adhikari had previously tried to run a similar fake “international police and investigation bureau” in Kolkata’s Beliaghata area. Still, the plan was foiled by Kolkata Police before it could take off. He is also under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the high-profile West Bengal teacher recruitment scam.

The case has sparked political reactions, with West Bengal Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari issuing a strong statement, calling the incident a serious matter of public trust and law enforcement credibility.
